About Us

Sri Gayathri Mahasamsthan {Devapuri}

Sri Gayathri Temple, located in Gayathri Layout, Krishnarajapura, Bangalore, has a unique & spiritual origin. Swamiji, while searching for a suitable location for the temple, faced several disappointments. However, during a visit to Krishnarajapura, he witnessed a significant & auspicious sight—three Garudas & a snake—signifying a place of tranquility & divine presence. This led him to believe that the land was ideal for the temple’s construction, symbolizing Nirvairatva (a state of perfect peace or freedom).

In 1992, Swamiji performed the Bhoomi Pooja (ground-breaking ceremony), & the temple was subsequently constructed in the Dravidian architectural style. The temple has since become a place of spiritual importance, attracting devotees seeking blessings & peace.

Additionally, Ekachandi, Navachandi, & Shatachandi Yagas are regularly performed to invoke the presence of the Goddess & to seek her blessings, bringing divine power & grace to the temple & its devotees. These rituals help maintain a continuous spiritual atmosphere, attracting devotees (worshippers) from far & wide to seek the blessings of the Goddess Gayathri.

Spiritual Milestones

1994

Sthapanam & Kumbhabhisheka

On Megha Shuddha Panchami, the temple witnessed the sthapanam (installation) of the deities and the Kumbhabhisheka (consecration) ceremony. This marked a sacred turning point, formally dedicating the temple to divine worship & establishing it as a center of spiritual power and devotion./p>

1998

Sahasra Kalashabhisheka & Laksha Gayatri Yagam

A grand spiritual milestone was achieved with the performance of the Sahasra Kalashabhisheka-an Abhishekam with one thousand sacred Kalashas(pots)-and the Laksha Gayatri Yogam, where one lakh (100,000) Gayatri mantras were chanted with deep devotion.

These large-scale Vedic rituals invoked immense divine grace and spiritual energy from Goddess Gayathri, elevating the sanctity of the temple and the collective consciousness of all devotees.

2006

Rajagopuram & Mahakumbhabhishek

The construction of the Rajagopuram-the grand temple tower-was a significant architectural and spiritual achievement. This subsequent Mahakumbhabhishek ceremony further consecrated the temple, enhancing its divine presence and solidifying its place as a revered spiritual landmark in Bangalore
